Teamwork – Path to faster success

Research shows that, in general, the productivity of people is going down and, as a result, all countries are progressing at a slower rate than usual. We should all look at ways that people can be more productive, so more work gets done in less time, and the overall growth rate of the company and the country is high. One of the best methods is to improve teamwork at all companies.

Teamwork is infectious. If there is good camaraderie among the team members, it can work wonders for the company. Their productivity goes up automatically. It is like a forest fire – one spark is all that is needed to set everything ablaze. This works on an everyday basis as people can produce more and more results in lesser time. If your team is already quite productive, there are still ways in which it can still be improved. Here are a few tips that can tell you how to use teamwork to take your company to greater heights of success.

Efficient Communication

Effective communication is crucial amongst the team members and also between various teams. Research shows that email is not the best way for office communication. If there is a discussion through an email thread, it becomes difficult to share points, searching and organizing it. The time involved goes up substantially as people may see the email and not respond or might miss an email in the cluttered inbox. It is much better always to communicate with clarity either on the phone or in person. Another method that can work is to email a schedule for regular meetings to discuss all other issues.

Standardize everything

When someone joins a firm, there are a lot of rules and standards that are followed. They wane out with time, and that should not be the case. Everything at work should have a standard procedure. This reduces so much of confusion and miscommunication. When you have “hear and say” policy, it affects the quality of work and cannot be reconfirmed in the future. For anything to be consistent, it has to be written down and worked according to it. Having a system makes sure there are no loopholes and everything happens without hassles. If a system does reveal problems, you can think of how to overcome them.

Keep it all simple

After having a proper system in place, you have to make sure that everything is simple. Complicated things often lead to troubles. If you feel a particular procedure is unnecessary, you can just take it off. You can also make sure that there aren’t outdated methods that are still being followed. The aim of all this is to make sure that no two people are doing the same work or worse even they might be negating each other’s work. Finding such tiny problems and changing them can lead to the significant difference for the good. Try to make use of technology in all ways possible as this improves efficiency significantly.

Aim high

Always set advanced goals for the team. This makes them work harder. An essential thing to remember is always to remain focused on the work that has to be done. If the current project is not over, do not jump into newer projects and lose focus. Make sure that you finish the work in hand before moving on to new work. This ensures that all your work gets done in time, and you don’t have delays on older work.

Plan it all

You should be very organized with the team’s work and be clear about what you want. Once you know that, you should divide it into tasks for each week and if possible break it down to each work tasks. If this is not implemented, the group will try to prolong each small piece of work, and they become less productive. People can set their own goals in addition to the ones you set for them. This way, we make sure that the work that has to be done within a deadline is always completed. If the team has a clear idea of what is to be done each week, it makes everyone more efficient.
