WhatsApp is an instant messaging platform that allows iphone, Blackberry, Android, Windows Phone and smartphone users to exchange text, image, video and audio messages for free. WhatsApp was founded in 2009 by Brian Acton and Jan Koum former employees of yahoo. WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook on February 19,2014.

WhatsApp has joined a developing club of services that is now  having more than 1 billion monthly active users(that implies 1 in 7 individuals in the world use it). Koum shared that the service has seen 42 billion messages sent through it every day, 1.6 billion photographs shared, 1 billion gatherings sorted out through it, and 250 million videos shared.
