Social media has emerged as the second most popular source for traffic. There are many platforms where content and advertisements can be displayed to target customers. While Facebook rules the social media, other platforms are also doing well. The latest trends show that Instagram is fast becoming a favorite platform and the brands are more inclined towards video marketing. Also, the marketers are hunting for new tools.

  1. Instagram is more popular than Twitter

A majority of social marketers are of the view that Instagram is future of social media. 42% of the social marketers have plans to invest on Instagram in future. This startling revelation was made in a survey conducted on 76% digital marketers. Facebook is the number one but Instagram has come in the second position.

In ROI, Facebook is on top with 96% results, Twitter with 64% is in the second position and Instagram is third with 40% ROI.

2.Content rules the social media

It is revealed that social marketers spend almost 19% of a business day in creating content and that they would continue to spend time and resources on creating quality content for their visitors. Content is the crucial part of any social media strategy and 70% of the marketers are looking for content-focused roles instead of relying on social media managers.

3. Social advertising outsourcing

Every brand and business does social advertising but a good number of businesses (33%) are outsourcing their social advertising. Only 57% of brands and companies are doing social ads on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms on their own. The survey further revealed that 17% of the brands are outsourcing all their social advertising and 33% businesses are outsourcing on small number of ads.

4. Prominence of video content

Video answer is the second most popular answer to search queries. Image posts are number one but now the trend is for video content. But length of the videos should be short as lengthy videos don’t create interest. The survey revealed that 46% of the brands are publishing at least one video every month. 79% of the marketers create images and 58% create blog posts for marketing.

5. Analytics software

The most popular software for social media marketing is monitoring/listening solutions (28%) and analytics solutions (24%). Together these apps account for more than 50% of the new social media tools needed for marketing. The number of social media marketers looking for new tools stands at 52%. It shows that social media is changing fast and the marketers don’t find the present tools to be supportive.
